Description
Six in ten children under the age of five regularly suffer physical punishment and/or psychological violence at the hands of parents and caregivers (World Health Organization [WHO], 2024). Childhood maltreatment is an increasing concern that demands greater awareness and action by caregivers, educators, and even professionals. While childhood maltreatment covers a wide range of types of abuse and neglect a child may endure, psychological abuse often remains hidden and unidentified due to a lack of knowledge and recognition and causes long-lasting damage to children.
